More information about English

Azerbaijani (language code: az; autonym: azərbaycanca) is spoken by around 30 million people mainly in Azerbaijan and the northwest of Iran. In Azerbaijan it is the official language and written with Latin script. In Iran it is a minority language and is written with Perso-Arabic script (but actually it's mainly spoken and not so often written there). From 1938-1991 it was written with Cyrillic script in Azerbaijan and is still written like this in Dagestan (North Caucasus, Russia). For more information see Wikipedia:Azerbaijani language
