__NOTOC__<sidebar>sidebar-essentials</sidebar>
<languages/>
We were made for connection – with each other and with God. God created us to build relationships with others that help us meet our needs. When connections are healthy, they are supportive and based on trust.
Bonds can be formed in different ways. Before birth, babies are physically connected to their mothers through the umbilical cord which provides everything they need to survive. Although this direct tie is cut at birth, infants remain completely dependent on their caregivers.
Over time, this changes: children grow and become more independent; more capable of meeting their own needs. Though they still receive much from their parents, they learn to feed and care for themselves, build relationships with siblings and friends, and eventually to provide for themselves.
Finally, they may build a relationship with a partner, commit to them, and become mothers and fathers of a new generation. The primary bond is now with their partner, not with their parents anymore.
God explains this in Genesis 2:24, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.”

God's desire is for us to build healthy ties through good relationships at the right time. Such ties provide commitment and understanding so that our needs are being met with appropriate expectations and intentions.
It is appropriate that in a marriage, husband and wife expect high levels of loyalty, love, and support from one another. We should not expect the same support from someone with whom we have no commitment or relationship. Healthy ties are built over time and start to knit together our mind, will, emotions, and possibly our body, to that of another person.

Unhealthy ties
While we are designed for connection, not all ties that we build are healthy, some can be harmful. A tie is unhealthy if we or the other person uses the connection to meet their needs in a selfish or controlling way that takes, rather than gives. Ties become unhealthy when they are formed outside of appropriate commitment, expectation, or timing.
If left unaddressed, negative patterns can develop over time. We may become overly dependent. We may start to manipulate or become manipulated. We may continue to give parts of ourselves to someone who doesn't honor that or doesn't care for us.

Three examples of unhealthy ties:
* Parent/child relationships which do not appropriately change or grow over time – If the connections of the mother and father towards their son never change, the son might not be able to form healthy emotional bonds with his wife.
* Idolization of an individual – giving a person too much influence so that their opinions matter more than God's. This is a one-sided connection where expectations and commitment are not appropriate.
* Sex outside of a mutual covenantal relationship, whether coerced or consensual - it is the most intimate connection we can form and requires the strongest commitment.

Unhealthy ties in past or present relationships can block us from developing healthy connections now or in the future. We may feel stuck or weighed down by destructive patterns in our lives. As long as we don't clean up this unhealthy connection it influences us and we're bound. We need to cut it to become free again.

Breaking unhealthy ties
When there is an unhealthy tie in our lives, we can go to God to help us cut and clean it. This doesn't always mean we have to reject or end the relationship, although in some harmful cases, that may be necessary.
We start the process of cutting these unhealthy ties by forgiving step by step the wrong done to us.
Then there are often things that have been taken from us, or that we took from the other person. This could be things like: our self confidence, safety, purity, control, or even our sense of who we are. We no longer need to try to get those back from the other person. Instead, we can trust God to restore them back into our lives, because He gave them to us in the first place. Finally, we can ask God to bless the connections that are appropriate and healthy.

Application guide
Use the support of a good helper! If you're ready to engage in a conversation with God, you can start like this:
Ask God: God, are there any unhealthy ties in my past or present relationships that you want to deal with?

Forgive: God, what do I need to forgive that person for?

Forgive the wrong that has been done to you (see worksheet “Forgiving Step by Step” for details).

Repent: God, where do I need to ask you for forgiveness?

Repent for everything where you partnered with sin or where you did wrong to the other person. (See worksheet “Confessing Sins and Repenting” for details)

Break the unhealthy connection/tie: In the name of Jesus, I break all unhealthy or sinful ties with ______. If necessary: I cut off all influence of ______ (abuse, control, sexual sin).

In the name of Jesus, I surrender all the things wrongfully exchanged in this relationship to You, God. Please cleanse all these things. I let go of everything that was theirs and I claim back everything of mine, please restore all these things according to your good intention.

Thank you God for setting me free from this unhealthy tie! (Then, If you are still in a relationship with this person): Please restore and bless the healthy connections that I have with this person.

Next steps: Take a few minutes to ask God how you should move forward with the relationship now that the unhealthy ties have been cut. For example: How does God want you to pray for them? What healthy boundaries do you need to be put in place?
Finally, we can ask God to bless the connections that are appropriate and healthy.

<sidebar>sidebar-languages</sidebar>
<languages/>

<sidebar>sidebar-languages</sidebar>
<languages/>
Turkish (language code: tr; autonym: ) is spoken by around 80 million people mainly in Turkey. For more details see Wikipedia:Turkish language
The Turkish language has undergone huge changes in the last century and is still changing at a high speed (for details see Wikipedia:Turkish language reform). This process was started by Atatürk who replaced the previous writing system based on Arabic script by a new system specifically fitted for the Turkish language based on Latin script. Then an organization was formed to replace many loanwords from Arabic and Persian by new "Turkish" counterparts. By this the amount of words derived from Arabic and Persian decreased. But for each of these "new words" there is still an "old word", which is sometimes still in use by different people. The vocabulary chosen by people can be very different for various reasons: Someone using only the "new" Turkish words might be nationalistic or he tends to be more secular and oriented to a "Western" lifestyle. Others use much more of the "old" words with Arabic origin which often identifies them as more religious / islamic as Arabic is the language of the mosque (see also Wikipedia:Connotations and implications of word choice in Turkish)

That means word choice has also a political dimension. As a tendency most of the 20th century more and more "new" Turkish words were used, but in the 21st century in a wider part of society there is the opposite tendency to use much more words with Arabic background. This phenomenon is very complex, but an important factor is definitely the level of secularity. In the west of the country (example city: İzmir) secularity is highest, whereas towards the East of Turkey people describe themselves as more religious and use accordingly different vocabulary in their language.
People from a secular background often dislike a "religious" language with lots of Arabic-background words. On the other hand, people using a language with more Arabic words usually regard it as inappropriate to replace the Arabic words with Turkish counterparts especially when it comes to expressions related to God and religion.

Turkish Bible translations
The situation mentioned above is of course a big challenge to any Turkish Bible translation. It begins with the translation of the word for "God", where two words exist: "Allah" as the Arabic word for God and "Tanrı", the word for God in Old-Turkish language. Probably only around 10% of Turkish people would use Tanrı in their daily language. Some of them would dislike the use of "Allah", as for them it is too much "religiously connotated". Probably around 90% of the people use "Allah" in their daily language. Half of them would accept the use of "Tanrı" as equally referring to God (but still wouldn't use it themselves). The other half would even dislike the use of "Tanrı" when referring to God and consider it at least as inappropriate, especially for a "Holy Book".
The word for God is the most prominent example, but the situation is the same for many other terms where actually two different words exist. That's why some Turkish Bible translations sound weird / foreign / inappropriate to some people, whereas for others they are totally fine.
Kitab-ı Mukaddes
The old Turkish translation finished in 1941. The title means "Holy Book" (but in rather old language and grammar). Its language is sometimes outdated but it still can be sometimes helpful, especially for reading the Old Testament with more conservative people as it is using more Arabic terms and the word "Allah" for God.
Printed copies exist and apparently the only source for online reading is http://www.incil.info/ (click on "Çeviri" in the upper right hand corner and select this translation)
{{Translatable template|BibleTranslation|title=Halk Dilinde Kutsal Kitap|preexplanation=Website: https://www.halkdilindekutsalkitap.com (only Turkish)
The title literally means "Holy Book in the people's language". The New Testament was finished in 2012 (called "Halk Dilinde İncil") and in 2026 also the translation of the Old Testament was finished. It is generally using easier grammar and shorter sentences (in comparison with the "Yeni Çeviri") and is thus easy to understand also for people without higher education. It's language uses many words with Arabic origin as it is used in "modern conservative Turkish", e.g. Allah as the word for God. That makes it particularly good to understand for "average" religious or strongly religious people. Very secular people may find its language "too religious".

<languages/>
Reboot is a discipleship training. It was developed for people who have been Christians for some time and attend a church, but who have little experience in discipling others. The main goals are:
* To (re)discover God’s vision for church and discipleship by studying the Book of Acts and to clear up misunderstandings about it
* Build a fellowship where everyone is honest with each other and challenges each other to take the next steps and implement what God is showing each person
* To empower all participants to share their story with God and the Good News with others and to support them in doing so
* To train participants so that they themselves become trainers and can begin to train others

The word “training” is deliberately chosen: as in sports, it is about bringing out the full potential in a person. This is not always easy or pleasant, because it requires working on individual skills, practicing over and over again, and failing more than once. But our role model, Jesus, is worth the effort!

It is important that both sides play their part: participants must be willing to learn (even if it is sometimes exhausting) and engage in training – otherwise it won’t work. It is also important for you to take on the role of a trainer and help participants to develop further. Make sure that both of these things are clearly communicated and clarified from the outset.

Overview of the resources
The training consists of eight lessons that build on each other:
# My Story with God
# Fellowship
# Church
# Relationship with God
# The Kingdom of God
# Multiplication
# God's Story
# My Next Steps

The worksheets are designed so that each participant receives a copy at each meeting. In addition, the following materials are available:
;Training Meeting Outline
:A guide for you as a trainer to help you organize the regular training sessions
;The Three-Thirds Process
:A diagram to print out to help all participants understand the process
;Worksheet for the Book of Acts
:Worksheet for taking notes on the Book of Acts. Each participant receives a copy of this worksheet at each meeting so that they can read and study four chapters until the next meeting.
;Book of Acts Summary
:Each participant receives this worksheet in the last lesson to summarize their insights from studying Acts.
;God’s Story
:A summary of the Good News. Used in Lesson 7, but can also be used independently.
;My Next Steps
:Worksheet to help you get an overview of important strategic questions and next steps for yourself. Used in Lesson 8, but can also be used independently.
;Training Principles
:Hints for you as a trainer to guide the entire process well.
;Training Planner
:A tool to help you plan the training sessions and keep track of everything as a trainer (printable and digital versions available).
;Hints and FAQ
:In-depth tips and answers to frequently asked questions about the Reboot training and individual lessons.

Requirements
The most important prerequisite for you as a trainer is that you want to pass on to others what you yourself have already learned from God. If you are also willing to learn from these materials, then you are ready to go!

For participants in your training, it is important that you explain the goals of the training beforehand and that they decide to participate. Do not train anyone who does not want to be trained! Also clarify that this training is no automatism: it is not helpful for everyone in every situation. It is intended for Christians who are ready to take steps outward and share about Jesus. However, if people aren’t heal inside (e.g., unhealthy image of God and/or themselves, emotional wounds, etc.), then it is necessary to first address these issues in counseling. Make sure that the training meetings are always a good next step for all participants and do not overwhelm them. Of course, hardly any participant will be completely healed inside, and it often happens that further problems come to light during the training. In many cases, it is a good idea to do both at the same time: joint training in the group and individual counseling with individual participants.

How should I begin?
# After reading this introduction, first read the “Training Meeting Outline” together with “The Three-Thirds Process”.
# Familiarize yourself with the first lesson and the “Worksheet for the Book of Acts”.
# Invite the participants to the first training session!
However, these resources alone are only half of what is needed for good training. Learn from your trainer, who will hopefully already be living out these principles, and let them support you! If you don’t have a trainer or mentor yet, take the opportunity to find someone who already has more experience and can help you make the training as effective as possible. To do the Reboot Training with others, it's best to experience it yourself first. You can ask for a trainer in your area on the homepage under Contact.

God bless you!

However, these resources alone are only half of what is needed for good training. Learn from your trainer, who will hopefully already be living out these principles, and let them support you! If you don’t have a trainer or mentor yet, take the opportunity to find someone who already has more experience and can help you make the training as effective as possible.

# My Next Steps
