Reboot
Reboot is a discipleship training. It was developed for people who have been Christians for some time and attend a church, but who have little experience in discipling others. The main goals are:
- To (re)discover God’s vision for church and discipleship by studying the Book of Acts and to clear up misunderstandings about it
- Build a fellowship where everyone is honest with each other and challenges each other to take the next steps and implement what God is showing each person
- To empower all participants to share their story with God and the Good News with others and to support them in doing so
- To train participants so that they themselves become trainers and can begin to train others
The word “training” is deliberately chosen: as in sports, it is about bringing out the full potential in a person. This is not always easy or pleasant, because it requires working on individual skills, practicing over and over again, and failing more than once. But our role model, Jesus, is worth the effort!
It is important that both sides play their part: participants must be willing to learn (even if it is sometimes exhausting) and engage in training – otherwise it won’t work. It is also important for you to take on the role of a trainer and help participants to develop further. Make sure that both of these things are clearly communicated and clarified from the outset.
Overview of the resources
The training consists of eight lessons that build on each other:
- My Story with God

- Fellowship

- Church

- Relationship with God

- The Kingdom of God

- Multiplication

- God's Story

- My Next Steps

The worksheets are designed so that each participant receives a copy at each meeting. In addition, the following materials are available:
- Training Meeting Outline
- A guide for you as a trainer to help you organize the regular training sessions
- The Three-Thirds Process
- A diagram to print out to help all participants understand the process
- Worksheet for the Book of Acts
- Worksheet for taking notes on the Book of Acts. Each participant receives a copy of this worksheet at each meeting so that they can read and study four chapters until the next meeting.
- Book of Acts Summary
- Each participant receives this worksheet in the last lesson to summarize their insights from studying Acts.
- God’s Story
- A summary of the Good News. Used in Lesson 7, but can also be used independently.
- My Next Steps
- Worksheet to help you get an overview of important strategic questions and next steps for yourself. Used in Lesson 8, but can also be used independently.
- Training Principles
- Hints for you as a trainer to guide the entire process well.
- Training Planner
- A tool to help you plan the training sessions and keep track of everything as a trainer (printable and digital versions available).
- Hints and FAQ
- In-depth tips and answers to frequently asked questions about the Reboot training and individual lessons.
Requirements
The most important prerequisite for you as a trainer is that you want to pass on to others what you yourself have already learned from God. If you are also willing to learn from these materials, then you are ready to go!
For participants in your training, it is important that you explain the goals of the training beforehand and that they decide to participate. Do not train anyone who does not want to be trained! Also clarify that this training is no automatism: it is not helpful for everyone in every situation. It is intended for Christians who are ready to take steps outward and share about Jesus. However, if people aren’t heal inside (e.g., unhealthy image of God and/or themselves, emotional wounds, etc.), then it is necessary to first address these issues in counseling. Make sure that the training meetings are always a good next step for all participants and do not overwhelm them. Of course, hardly any participant will be completely healed inside, and it often happens that further problems come to light during the training. In many cases, it is a good idea to do both at the same time: joint training in the group and individual counseling with individual participants.
How should I begin?
- After reading this introduction, first read the “Training Meeting Outline” together with “The Three-Thirds Process”.
- Familiarize yourself with the first lesson and the “Worksheet for the Book of Acts”.
- Invite the participants to the first training session!
However, these resources alone are only half of what is needed for good training. Learn from your trainer, who will hopefully already be living out these principles, and let them support you! If you don’t have a trainer or mentor yet, take the opportunity to find someone who already has more experience and can help you make the training as effective as possible. To do the Reboot Training with others, it's best to experience it yourself first. You can ask for a trainer in your area on the homepage under Contact.
God bless you!
